For those of you that know me best, you realize my innate ability to burst into spontaneous– and usually ridiculous– song, fueled by parody lyrics. It’s a great way to introduce my baby to some of the classics (and some of the also-rans).
Here are the songs in “Now That’s What Dad Calls Music 324!” The hits written by Mommy are denoted with an asterisk. I synced up the video to the exact moment in the video for you to sing along!
You’ll notice there are varying levels of quality with the lyrics I wrote. I guess I won’t be winning any Grammies for Best Dad Album anytime soon.
**********
1. Stand Up (Ludacris featuring Shawna)
“When I burp, you burp. Just like that? When I burp, you burp. Just like that? When I burp, you burp. Just like that? Hey yeah. Hey daddy, pat that back.”
2. Let’s Burp (David Bowie)
“Let’s burp! Put on your red shoes and burp the blues!”
3. Change Your Bum-Bum (Ricky Martin)*
“Change your bum bum change your bum bum change your bum bum!”
4. You Should be Standing (Bee Gees)
“If you really wanna burp, burp. Yeaaah! If you really wanna burp, burp. Yeaaah! You should be standing, yeah!”
5. Burps of Cydonia (Muse)
“No one’s gonna burp me nowwwwwww… Now we burp to make things riiiiight.”
Today’s Tip: Using the burp ladder helps with this one. Burp the baby starting near the bum, then move toward the top of the back with each pat. This works especially well during the bridge of the song. That you hear right at the beginning of the clip.
6. Take a Burp on Me (Abba)
“Take a burp on me. If you have to, spit up now. That’d be okay. If you want to, burp instead. Burp on daddy, hey.”
7. Tummytime, Tummytime (The Jamies)
“It’s tummy time tummy time tum-tum-tummy time. Tummy time tummy time tum-tum-tummy time. Tummy time tummy time tum-tum-tummy time. Tummy tiiiiiiime.”
8. Surrender (Cheap Trick)*
“Mommy makes milk, Baby drinks milk, Daddy’s a little weird. Surrender. Surrender, but don’t give binky away!”
A Dance Move I Learned from the Street (Sesame Street)
Here’s a pretty sweet dance I learned from the longest-running children’s show in America.
Bonus Track!
The baby loves the Hot Diggity Dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. From what people say, it provides all of the great and terrible things that cocaine does. The baby is giddy beyond belief during the song, and there is definitely a crash afterward. It’s a good thing that you can watch it five times in a row thanks to this YouTube video!
That’s all for now folks. See ya reaaaal soon!
